
Senior Full Stack Engineer (Backend, Automation)

About the role:
As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Mirza, you’ll be an influential member of our product and engineering team, leading R&D investigations into candidate product and technology applications, building new products from 0 to 1, and working with an interested and inspired team to continuously enhance and scale our category-defining platform and the systems that support it. You’ll collaborate closely with fellow engineers, product managers, sales and operations leaders to tackle real business, technology and customer-facing problems that will have a direct, and highly visible, impact on the success of Mirza’s products and the families that depend on them.
**This is a hands-on software engineering role. You will join a small team of experienced engineers that are interested in the “why”, care about quality, and love to ship products.

Contribute to a fast-moving engineering team that prioritizes impact and shipping real-world solutions
Collaborate with passion to solve complex problems through technology
Provide technical leadership and influence system design, tool selection, and development practices
Communicate clearly to drive decisions and inspire action
Raise the bar on code quality, testing, deployment, and mentorship
Bring new skills, perspectives, and ideas to help grow and strengthen our R&D team
What we’re looking for:
8+ years of experience building customer-facing software (startup experience a plus)
Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
Strong object-oriented programming skills and focus on technical excellence
Pragmatic and innovative in making technical decisions to maximize ROI and manage trade-offs
Skilled at breaking down business problems and communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences
Able to evaluate and explain solution trade-offs aligned with business and user goals
Experience mentoring and pairing with developers to elevate team performance
Familiarity with our stack: Node, TypeScript, React, Terraform, GitHub Actions, AWS (preferred, not required)
Knowledge of cloud-native development, modern DevOps, and security best practices
Proven ability to design and build efficient APIs and microservice
Experience scaling apps using containers and orchestration frameworks
Leadership or mentorship experience on remote development teams
Experience building and deploying 12-factor apps in team environments
Defined SLOs/SLAs and monitoring thresholds for reliability and alerting
Familiar with technical governance and policy enforcement practices
Bonus stuff:
Led distributed system design and developer platform initiatives
Experience building workflow automation with n8n and LLMs
Built document processing systems at commercial scale using:
OCR, document libraries, data mapping, RPA, AI, templating, and scripting
Experience automating:
Eligibility checks
Identity verification
Fraud detection
Experience integrating with:
HRIS or payroll systems
Legal research platforms
Identity verification services

What you can expect from us
Salary $120,000 - $180,000 depending on experience and location, plus share options
